TRIVANDRUM: Investigations kick-started into the corruption case in Trivandrum corporation that saw Rs 5.6 crores siphoned in the veil of subsidy scheme for women in scheduled caste. The CIG report revealed the crores worth scam that shocked the state capital. A group headed by the local council audit officer has already started an investigation into the issue from January 19th. The staffs who worked under the Industrial extension officer were asked to report to the committee to give statements. Tomorrow, staffs including Pravin raj and Shefin will be present before the committee to give their version. The industrial extension officer is suspected to be the brain behind this scam. The CIG report gives more than one hint about the wrongdoings committed by the officer. The industrial extension officer also transferred the subsidy scheme from the district Treasury to corporative bank accounts, which goes against the basic norm of the scheme. Corporative banks can never issue loans for startups of any kind. When queried about such a move, corporation secretary Binu Francis remarked a sign of helplessness. It is an openly kept secret that all kinds of illegal money-minting channels through service corporative banks in the state.
