IT employee drowned while taking bath in Muthirappuzhayar river

ADIMALI: IT employee from an excursion group who was taking a bath near Pallivasal powerhouse in Muthirappuzhayar drowned to death yesterday. Sharan (24), a resident of Fourth Street, Periyanagar, Chennai was the one who died. The accident happened at 9.30 am yesterday. A seven-member group of IT officials who visited Munnar from Chennai on the 27 stayed at a resort in Munnar. Yesterday, they found the river with the help of Google Maps and came for a bath. Sharan, who went down to bathe in Muthirappuzhayar, slipped in the current and went missing. After being informed by friends, a search was conducted in the area under the leadership of Vellathooval police, Munnar fire brigade, and locals, and the body was recovered in the afternoon. An inquest will be held today after relatives arrive from Chennai. The body is in the Adimali taluk hospital mortuary.
