Child marriage in Idukki; 47-year-old man who is a father of two married to 16-year-old

Idukki: Child marriage in Edamalakkudy. Raman (47), a native of Kandathikkudi in Edamalakkudy panchayat, married a 16-year-old girl. He is married and the father of two children. The wedding took place a week ago.

The child protection officer had received confidential information about the child marriage. After this, the social welfare department officials reached the spot and investigated to find that the marriage did happen indeed. It was also learned that both of them were staying at the girl's house.

At the same time, Raman and the girl had shifted their location after knowing that the officials had arrived. The Child Welfare Committee has instructed the police to file a case in the matter. The Child Protection Officer had given a report in this regard to the CWC. Police action has been initiated in the incident.
