Vailithara Muhammed Kunju Moulavi passes away

HARIPPAD: Renowned speaker and scholar Vailithara Muhammed Kunju Moulavi (94) passed away. He passed away yesterday morning at his residence in Thrikkunnapuzha, Alappuzha. The burial was held yesterday evening at Varavukad Juma Masjid in Panoor.

He was the son of scholar Vailithara Muhammed Musliyar. Muhammed Kunju received primary education from his father. Later he studied under Moideen Kunju Musliyar, Hydros Musliyar, Ali Musliyar, Vaduthala Kunjuvava Musliyar, Pappinippally Muhammad Musliyar and Vaazhakadan Muhammad Musliyar. Muhammed Kunju Maulavi was active in delivering speeches for more than seven decades.

Filled with Qur'an, Bible, Bhagwat Gita, poems of Kumaranashan, Changampuzha and Vallathol poems and clear English words, Vailithara's lectures openly showed the equation between religion and man. He also used to include the teachings of Sree Narayana Gurudeva in his lectures. He was close to all the leaders of Samastha, Muslim League and Congress.
