Drunk youth sets house on fire to kill wife and children, roof of house burnt down in incident

THALAYOLAPARAMBU: A youth set his house on fire to kill his wife and three kids. The incident happened around 1.30 am today. Kulasekharamangalam native Rajeev set fire to the house. He was drunk. The locals intervened in time and shifted the wife and children from here.

Locals say that Rajeev, who was abroad earlier, used to get drunk and harass his wife regularly. Even the roof of the thatched house was burnt. The children’s study materials, certificates, clothes and household items inside the house were completely burned.

The fire brigade under the leadership of Assistant Station Officer Jayachandran and PM Pavithran arrived from Vaikom and brought the fire under control. The youth who was making threats in front of the burning house was brought under control by the police and was admitted to the Vaikom Taluk Hospital and then to the Kottayam Medical College Hospital.
