THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finance Minister KN Balagopal on Friday announced that Rs 50 crore has been allocated in the Kerala Budget for the development of tourism corridor. Centres like Kovalam, Alappuzha, Kuttanad, Kumarakom, Kollam, Ashtamudi, Beypore, Bekal and Munnar will be earmarked for experiential tourism. The minister said the focus will be on developing these into world-class tourist destinations. The minister also said that 10 crores will be allocated for initial expenses in tourist centres.
The tourism corridors are the coastal network corridor, coastal highway corridor, waterway canal corridor, national highway corridor, heli tourism corridor, hill tourism corridor and railway corridor. These will be developed in conjunction with basic development projects in the state. Rs 50 crores have been announced in the budget for their development.
