DUBAI: Former India skipper Virat Kohli, who is going through a rough patch with the bat, received another setback as he dropped out of the top 10 for the first time in six years. Kohli has dropped three places to the 13th spot in the latest ICC test rankings announced on Wednesday. Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has risen to a career-best 5th spot position in the rankings.

Kohli dropped out of the top 10 rankings due to his poor performance in the Edgbaston Test. He was able to score only 11 runs in the first innings and 20 runs in the second innings.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant climbed up the ladder following his scintillating performance in the Edgbaston Test. The wicketkeeper-batter scored 146 and 57 across two innings. He has scored two centuries and three half-centuries in the last six test matches. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who missed the Edgbaston Test after testing positive for COVID-19, also dropped one place in the rankings.

England batter Joe Root, who scored a sublime 142 in the second innings of the Edgbaston Test, consolidated his position at the top of the rankings with 923 points. Australian batters Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith occupy the second and third positions respectively.
