Historic achievement, Under-19 Women's Twenty20 World Cup title for India, England beaten by seven wickets

POTCHEFSTROOM: India's teenage squad wins their maiden Under-19 Women's Twenty20 World Cup title. India's historic victory was achieved by defeating England by seven wickets in the final match. England who lost the toss was bowled out by India at 68 runs. India reached the target at the loss of three wickets in 14 overs. Captain Shafali Verma scored 15 off 11 balls, fellow opener Shweta Sehrawat scored 5 off 6 balls and Trisha 24 off 29 balls before losing their wickets. Soumya Tiwari (24 off 37 balls) and Hrishita Basu (0) took India to the title at the fourth wicket. Score England 68 (17.1). India 69/3 (14).

Only four players in the England line-up have seen double figures. Ryana MacDonald-Gay was the top scorer with 19 runs. Titas Sadhu, Archana Devi and Parshavi Chopra took two wickets each for India. Mannath Kashyap, Shafali Verma, and Sonam Yadav took one wicket each.
