Indian citizen arrested in US; more than 2400 Indians deported in 2025 alone

LOS ANGELES: An Indian citizen accused in multiple criminal cases has been arrested by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The arrested person has been identified as 26-year-old Parminderpal Singh. According to ICE, he was taken into custody in Los Angeles on Thursday.
Officials said Singh was involved in several crimes, including vehicle theft, major robberies, trespassing, and damage to public property. He is currently being held in ICE custody, and deportation proceedings to send him back to India have begun.
According to figures released by India’s Ministry of External Affairs, a total of 2,417 Indian citizens were deported or sent back from the United States between January and September 2025.
