THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Youth Congress leader and accused in the AKG Center attack, Jithin, has been remanded to judicial custody. He was produced in court by the crime branch after his 3-day custody got over.
The investigating team told the court that the accused confessed to abandoning the t-shirt he wore on the day of the attack, in a river. However, the police are still to find the scooter he used for the attack. The crime branch has got information that the scooter belongs to another Youth Congress leader. More investigations will be done to find the scooter in the coming days.
The crime branch reported to the court that Jithin was taken to gather evidence and that the duplicate Woodland shoes he wore that day were also found.
Earlier, the investigation team took Jithin to AKG premises, in secrecy, to gather evidence. He was produced in court after that. The report also mentions that the accused is not cooperating with the investigation fully.
As the court had earlier remanded Jithin till 6 October, he was sent to jail. Jithin’s bail plea will be taken by the Judicial First Class Magistrate S. Abhinimol on Tuesday.
