KOCHI: Nedumbassery airport has resumed its operations on Wednesday. An Indigo flight from Bengaluru landed at Kochi airport at 2:05 pm. This flight will return at 3:25 pm. 32 flights including this will operate today.

Air India Express and Jet Airways flights from Muscat, Indigo flight from Doha, Jet Airways flight from Dubai, GoAir flight from Sharjah, Etihad flight from Abudhabi and Air Asia flight from Kuala Lumpur will rech Kochi today. Several domestic flights will also arrive at the airport.

Airline, Ground handling, Customs and Immigration departments had resumed their operations before Monday noon. The airport was closed on August 15. CIAL has suffered a loss worth Rs 300 crore. Even though the runway was not damaged, water entered thirty lakh square feet area of the airport including three terminal buildings, apron and launchers. The airport resumed its operations after continuous effort by several people. Two km of the ten feet high surrounding wall was destroyed in the floods.  These damaged portions were partially reconstructed. Four conveyor belts, 22 x-ray machines, power distribution, generators and runway lights were restored. About half of the solar panels have been charged.
