THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala has faced the worst floods in a century. Now it is expected that a drought may hit the state as water level in rivers are decreasing. Kozhikode is likely to be the district that will be affected by this drought the most. Several plants of Mavoor Thengilakkadav have been burnt. Water level has decreased in Chaliyaar and its tributaries. However, experts say that the water-level was decreased as the flow of water has increased due to floods.
The level of water in Iruvanjippuzha and Maampuzha, tributaries of Chaliyaar is decreasing alarmingly. The grass near this area is also burnt. Water-level has decreased in nearby wells and this has made people afraid. Water-level was decreased following the opening of check dams and regulators. However, officials told that there is no need of a concern in this situation.
