NEW DELHI: Noted Jain monk Tarun Sagar passed away on Saturday. He was 51 and died last at 3 AM. He was suffering from jaundice. He had stopped taking his medication and had chosen Santhara - the Jain ritual of fasting to death. He enjoyed a massive fan following even outside the Jain community.

Tarun Sagar was greatly respected by various politicians including the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

 He had hit headlines in 2016 when he had been invited to the deliver a lecture at the Haryana Assembly.
