THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government is preparing to cut short expenditure since the damages due to floods have resulted in huge financial liability.  Finance minister Thomas Isaac said that the government is trying to cut short expenditure by changing yearly programme and postponing programmes that does not need an immediate action. He also said that new appointments will be controlled.

A huge amount will be required for surviving from the damages due to floods. Finding this amount is a tough task. There is no alternate option other than cutting short expenditure, said Thomas Isaac.

“Financial discipline should be kept for rebuilding Kerala. Programmes should be postponed after evaluating each department. Regulations will be imposed on officers to buy new cars. Permission will be granted only to department heads for buying new cars. Cars will be rented for other purposes of the government”, said the minister.
