THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Leptospirosis is spreading spread across the state following floods. 24 people have died in the state from leptospirosis in the last three days. The department of health has issued a high emergency alert in 13 districts in this situation. One more person has died in Thrissur suffering from leptospirosis. The dead has been identified as Sinesh, native of Kodaly who was under treatment in Mulankunnath Kavu Medical College.

269 people have sought treatment in Kozhikode Medical College hospital from August 1st to September 1st. 40 people in Kottayam were affected by the disease this year. It is also believed that 41 people have died in the state due to leptospirosis. 11 people in Kozhikode, 10 people in Palakkad, five in Palakkad, three in Ernakulam and Kannur, two in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Thrissur and one person in Alappuzha are believed to have died from this disease.
