PATHANAMTHITTA: Electricity Minister M M Mani has said that nobody has died because of opening dams. He said that only excess water was flowed out and if there were any lapses from the dam safety department then it should be investigated.

“The reason for load shedding is not because water is unavailable. It is due to maintenance works in power houses. Water has not decreased in Idukki dam. If electricity has to be bought from outside, then some regulations may be required”, said M M Mani. He was talking to reporters in Pathanamthitta.

Minister’s statement that ‘many people will die in such a flood that come after centuries, some people will survive, we will move forward’ had become controversy earlier.
