KOCHI: Jalandhar bishop Franco Mulackal said that he will cooperate with the investigation in the sexual abuse complaint lodged by a nun against him. He will appear before the investigation team on Wednesday as per a police notice. He also informed that he will reach Kerala before September 19.
Meantime, suspicions have become stronger that the investigation team is purposefully delaying the bishop’s arrest. A clear decision regarding this was not taken in the evaluation meet of the police held on Wednesday. It has also been alleged that the police themselves have paved a way for the bishop to escape. Kottayam district police chief Harishankar and investigation officer Vaikom DySP K Subhash informed Kochi range IG Vijay Sakkare that the nun is firm on her complaint. However, IG directed them to call bishop to Kerala and interrogate him in detail on September 19. Sakkare also told them to clarify the conflicts in the statement of both the bishop and the nun. It has been alleged that the police is giving time for the bishop to escape.
