KOZHIKODE: The video of a wedding that took place in 1985 at Koyilandi in Viyyur is becoming viral. Its popularity shows the curiosity of the new generation to see and understand those good old days. They get an opportunity to have a close look at the attires, attitudes, looks, paraphernalia, decors, vehicles and the topography of those times.

It was the wedding of Viyyur Chathothazhe Rajan and Kappadu Thoovappara Eyyathumkodiyil Thanka that took place 33 years ago. By now, lakhs of people have seen it and shared it.  

Gulf Wedding

In those days, only men employed in Gulf could afford video shoots during weddings. The bridegroom was a Gulf man.

Camera man from MPeace studio Baby has shot the video. After all these years, the video is still intact; it was recently edited by Deva Visual media (Koilandi) owner Sajin Dev, who is a friend of Rajan’s elder son Jithin Raj.

Rajan-Thanka couple has two sons. Elder son Jithin Raj is a Malabar Gold employee. Younger son Nijin Raj is a polytechnic student.
