KANNUR: Though God scripted the premature death of Shilna’s husband, she never thought his biological children will open their eyes to this world. But it all become possible with her prayers and brilliance of science.

A year after writer and teacher Sudhakaran’s death in a road accident, his twin babies were born to his wife Shilina, thanks to medical science.

The girl babies were born the other day in a Kannur hospital. This was made possible through the In vitro fertilisation (IVF).
The couple, whose was a love marriage, had started infertility treatment four years ago. On August 15, last year, Sudhakaran met with the accident while he was travelling from Nilambur to Kozhikode after a teacher’s camp. Hit by a lorry, he died on the spot.

Shilina, however, expressed her desire to her family and doctors to have Sudhakaran’s children. Though the couple had tried IVF in 2016 and 2017, it was not a success. Shilina thus came forward for a third go. Following this, she got admitted in Kozhikode ARMC treatment centre, where her husband’s sperm was preserved. Through IVF, the sperm was injected into her uterus.

Shilima gave birth to the twins the other day. The caesarean was performed by Kannur Koyili hospital Dr Amar Ramachandran and his team.

Meanhwile, the hospital authorities has informed that the two babies with 2.3 kg and 2.5 kg respectively are hale and hearty in the hospital.
