MUMBAI: It has been hinted that Vatican may ask Jalandhar bishop Franco Mulackal, alleged to be accused in a sexual abuse case to step down from his responsibilities as bishop. He may be asked to do this until the investigation ends.
Cardinal Oswald Gracias, president of Catholic Metropolitan committee has informed the case details to Vatican directly. Gracias, a member of the advisory committee of the Pope has informed Vatican that the accusations are serious. He has also informed the Pope about the protest staged by the nuns at high court junction in Ernakulam. The church is concerned about the growing support of the nuns. Vatican has sought a detailed report from the church leaders of Kerala.
The nun had sent a letter to Vatican earlier. She had raised severe allegations against Mulackal in the letter.
