KOCHI: It has been reported that the Jalandhar bishop Franco Mulackal has been arrested by the police in connection with the sexual abuse case lodged by the nun.  The arrest was recorded by Kottayam DySP K Subhash after two-and-a-half day long interrogation. Bishop had reached before the investigation team for interrogation at 10 am on Friday. The interrogation was led by Kottayam SP S Harishankar and Vaikkom DySP K Subhash.

The arrest was inevitable since the statement of the bishop was unsatisfactory and all the evidences are against him. SP informed this to the bishop, Punjab police and the advocate in Punjab. Remand report was written following this and arrest was registered.

The investigation team had earlier clarified that there are developments in the interrogation on Thursday and many details were obtained from the bishop.

Bishop will be presented before the Vaikkom magistrate court before 5 pm, since it is a holiday for the Pala magistrate on Friday. The police have prepared a remand report and they will ask the magistrate to remand the bishop for two days.
