WAYANAD: The church has taken action against a sister who gave support to the protest staged by nuns at high court junction seeking the arrest of bishop Franco Mulackal. Sister Lucy Kalappura of Mananthavady diocese was removed from her responsibilities. She has been banned from teaching bible, offering qurbana and activities of the parish. However, she is allowed to participate in the qurbana.

Lucy reached high court junction to participate in the protest two days ago. She had said that the church should be prepared to correct themselves if any lapses have been occurred and also clarified that she completely supports the protest of nuns seeking justice. However the diocese alleged that Lucy disgraced the church through media.

Lucy was teaching bible to tenth standard students. She was informed about the action when she reached the church to pray on Sunday morning. However, she clarified that she has not received any written notice about this.

“I don’t know why such an action was taken against me. I am sad in this. Can anyone point whether I have said a single word against the church? I received huge support from the nuns of the diocese when I returned back after the protest. Several sisters have told me that a change is essential for the church and priests”, said Lucy.
