The late actor Kalabhavan Mani's life was on full of celebrations and controversies. Though he turned out to be a busy South Indian actor, in his formative years he had to face snubbing from many includings his colleagues. 
 
One of the incidents in this regard was the statement of an actress that she would not act with Mani since he was'black-skinned'. 
This is alluded in the film 'Chalakkudikkaran Changathy', Vinayan is making based on Mani's life story.
 
The actress who made that comment was one of the actresses in the film Valkkannadi released in 2002.
 
Though Mani had not reacted to this statement, circles close to him had said that it was true.
 
Vinayan says that he decided to include this fact in his film as he was convinced bout the authenticity of the report.
