KOCHI: Kerala Catholic Bishop Council has come forward against the protest staged by nuns at Ernakulam high court junction seeking the arrest of Jalandhar bishop Franco Mulackal. KCBC said in a statement that the bishop’s arrest is a sad incident for the Catholic Church. KCBC also said that the church has been disgraced by the protest staged by the nuns.

“The stand taken by nuns and several priests are wrong. We had taken an action when the complaint was lodged by the nun. It was not right to stage the protest even after that. It is against the laws of the church”, said KCBC.

“The alleged bishop should get a chance to prove his innocence. They should not disgrace the church continuously in bishop’s name. If the crime is proved, the accused should get maximum punishment as per the law. However, they are now trying to disgrace the church. Even some media has a hidden agenda regarding this issue”, said KCBC.
