WAYANAD: Loan debt led a farmer in Wayanad to commit suicide on Tuesday. The dead has been identified as Pulppally Aloorkunnu Kuttichitta Ramadas.  Ramadas had taken more than Rs 5 lakh from banks and self-reliant societies as loans. He was under the threat of sequestration procedures, after he defaulted repayment of loans.

In the wake of flood, the government had given instructions to banks not to take action on defaulted payments. But yet, Ramdas received sequestration notice, which forced him to take the drastic step.
