KOZHIKODE: Actor-Director Joy Mathew has said the government had been trying to brand those who react against the administration as terrorists.
Kozhikode Town Police had filed a case against Joy Mathew, for taking out a silent march through Mittayi street, expressing solidarity with striking nuns in the nun rape case.
He made the above comment after appearing in the Kozhikode Town Police Station. He said he was not going to settle the case by paying fine, though the police had suggested that.
“I can’t accept the move to make me a terrorist. I didn’t know that Mittayi street had been declared a strike-free zone,” he said.
The silent march was taken by cultural activists on September 13.
The case has also been registered against 25 persons including John Mathew and P T Haridasan.
The police claim is that the district collector had issued an order banning dharnas through Mittayi Street.
