ksrtc-strike

KOCHI: Kerala High Court has stayed the proposed indefinite strike called by ruling-Opposition unions from October 2, demanding reinstatement of temporary employees.

The court directed the employees not to go ahead with the strike without exploring the means for settlement of their issue.“Employees’ organisations should consider the fact that KSRTC comes under essential services.”

The court said that the stay order was interim and it would have a sitting for the final hearing of the case later. There is also demand for invoking the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) against striking employees.

CITU, INTUC, AITUC and Drivers’ Federation organisations have jointly issued the notice for the strike. The strikers other demands include withdrawal of unscientific employment reformation and distribution of DA arrears.
