ADOOR: The hostility between cinema director Biju and actor-director Joy Mathew came to a happy ending after five years on Thursday. Cutting the ice, both hugged warmly when they met at the court room. They were meeting for the first time then.
Biju filed a case against Joy Mathew about five years ago after the latter allegedly humiliated him by calling his caste name.
Finally Biju agreed to settle the case and the tiff gave way for happiness. The climax was that both shook hands, shared warmth of friendship and vowed to work together for cinema.
Though Biju called Joy to his home for lunch, the latter amicably denied the offer, saying that he would return only after relaxing with his friends for some time.
Case history
The incident related to case happened in 2013. After the film Shutter directed by Joy Mathew failed to bag National Award, he allegedly called up and humiliated Biju, who was a jury member. According to the complaint given to Pathanamthitta district police superintend, Joy Mathew also threatened him.
The complaint was filed as a case in Adoor court. Joy Mathew later got bail in the case. Yesterday both were present for the trial. The judge’s words, “why both couldn’t go for a compromise?”, made them think in that line. Finally, both agreed to go for an amicable settlement.
