KOZHIKODE: Leader of opposition Ramesh Chennithala has come forward criticising the state government for granting permission for a new brewery in the state. The industries department is involved in this decision which allowed permission for the brewery to function, Ramesh Chennithala told reporters in a press meet. He also asked why the excise minister is not giving suitable reply to the questions raised by the opposition.
“This decision was not mentioned in the new liquor policy of LDF and in the election manifesto. What is the basis of allocating 10 acre land in KINFRA Park, Kochi for the brewery? This cannot be done without permission from the industries department. Excise minister should clarify who had given permission for the brewery to function. If an order is issued, it should be revealed. Who signed this order?”, asked Chennithala.
“What is the basis of allowing permission to a private company for starting a brewery? Pinarayi government has secretly implemented something that was not done by former LDF chief ministers E K Nayanar and V S Achuthanandan”, said Chennithala.
