THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: V T Balram MLA has come forward welcoming the Supreme Court verdict allowing women to enter Sabarimala temple. He wrote in his Facebook post that the verdict is liberal and it strengthens the judicial system.
“Meantime, some people are raising this verdict by portraying it as against Hinduism in order to add fuel to the fire. Beliefs and heritage should be evaluated on the basis of new values and we should move forward by avoiding some of them and sustaining those that are necessary, this is called renaissance.” he said.
“It is not mandatory that all women should visit Sabarimala from tomorrow just because the Supreme Court has made such a verdict. A majority of people who oppose this verdict in the name of beliefs and heritage are women. When Abraham Lincoln banned slavery in US several years ago, many slaves had expressed concerns that they have lost a master, which is history”, he added.
