THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rainfall in the state has declined since the low-pressure formed near Lakshadweep has moved away to Oman coast. The low-pressure is moving at a speed of 87 kilometres per hour towards north-west direction. Orange alert in five districts - Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Wayanad was changed to yellow alert following the decline in rainfall.

Meantime, the shutter of Cheruthoni dam, which was opened on Saturday will be closed today. 42 dams in the state were opened including 16 under the department of irrigation. Bhoothathankett dam in Idukki and all the dams in Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Thrissur and Kottayam districts were opened. All these dams have been closed.

Fishermen were warned not to venture into sea. Traffic will be controlled in the hill areas. National Disaster Management Authority has deployed their teams in seven districts. They will remain in the districts for one more day.
