NEW DELHI: Minor skirmishes occurred during the namajapa yatra (march with chanting of Ayyappa hymns), taken out in New Delhi on Sunday in protest against women’s entry in Sabarimala.

In front of Delhi Kerala House, the protestors blocked the car of Minister E P Jayarajan. The police and security personnel had to toil a bit to remove the protestors from the spot. The incident happened when top rung CPM leaders including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan were present in Delhi to take part in CPM State committee meeting.

Hindu organisations-led march had started by 4 in the evening. After that, the protestors marched to Kerala house to submit a memorandum but the police were not ready to let them in. A verbal duel between the police and protestors ensued. It was then E P Jayarajan’s car came that way. Soon the protestors turned towards the minister and blocked his car. Some even were seen lying down on the road in front of his car.
 
However, the timely intervention of police officers at the spot helped the minister go safely into the house. The crowd dispersed after their memorandum was accepted.
