THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Following unexpected turn of events, Devaswom board has changed its earlier stand that special facilities will be provided to women reaching Sabarimala.
Travancore Devaswom board president A Padmakumar said no facilities additional to the earlier ones will be provided to women who may arrive for darshan in Sabarimala.
“Women who have come to Sabarimala earlier have been able to make do with the present facilities. Our further steps will be guided by the high court directions. We also have no plans, as of now, to deploy policewomen at Sannidhanam during the Malayalam month of Tulam. We don’t want to insist that all women, irrespective of their ages, should go to Sabarimala. We shall abide by the court order and move on only after proper consultations. As far as Sabarimala is concerned, the thantri society is the paternal authority. If there is any problem in Sabarimala, they are also responsible for finding a solution for it. Devaswom board has no grudge against anyone,” Padmakumar said.
