THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The meeting between Panthalam royal family and devaswom board called for discussing Sabarimala issue was failed. The members of Panthalam royal family walked out of the discussion as both sides were adamant on their stands. The temple will be opened for poojas of Thulam on Wednesday and the protests over the issue are getting intensified.
Sasikumar Varma, representative of Panthalam royal family and the tantri family demanded that the Travancore Devaswom Board should file a review plea in the Supreme Court. However, A Padmakumar, president of the Devaswom Board said that a decision on filing a review plea can be made only after the board meet on 19th. He also added that the Supreme Court has been closed for the Navaratri holidays. Devaswom board has also denied the argument of the royal family that the 1991 verdict announced by justice Paripoornan is still valid. The representatives of the royal family walked out of the discussion following this.
“Board’s stand is unfortunate. They have not accepted any of our demands”, said Sasikumar Varma.
“We informed them that a decision on filing a review plea can be made only after the board meet on 19. However, they did not agree to it and the discussion failed”, A Padmakumar told reporters after meeting.
