PAMBA: New York Times reporter Suhasini Raj has said that she had dropped the decision to climb Sabarimala hillock as she didn’t want to hurt the religious sentiments of the people and create unnecessary problems.
“The protesting mob was very aggressive. I told them I didn’t come for darshan but to do an official reporting of the current state of affairs in Sabarimala. I showed them my Identity Card. They shouted slogans at me and even started pelting stones at me. Finally, I decided not to proceed towards the temple,”
While working with Cobrapost, a media company, Suhasini had conducted Operation Duryodhana, aired on Aaj Tak news channel in December 12, 2005. It was a sting operation, wherein she bribed eleven members of the Indian Parliament to ask questions in Parliament.
Currently she works with the south Asia bureau of The New York Times in Delhi. Raj is a native of Lucknow.
