KOCHI: Kochi-based model and activist Rehna Fathima and Andhra-based journalist Kavitha have reached Nadappanthal of Sabarimala temple following the supreme court verdict allowing women of all ages to visit the temple. They reached Sannidhanam surrounded by heavy police protection led by IG Sreejith. Kavitha has reached Sannidhanam for reporting.

Kavitha sought police protection on Thursday to visit Sabarimala. However, the visit was postponed to Friday when she was informed that the police would not be able to arrange necessary security at night. The women were brought to the temple with tight security of more than hundred police officers. However, several devotees have started protesting in front of the Nadappanthal at Sabarimala. IG Sreejith conducted a discussion with the devotees and informed them that they will be allowed to protest peacefully. He also informed them that the government has not intension to bring women to the temple forcefully. Several devotees including children are still protesting at Sabarimala.
