THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Trupti Desai, a Pune-based activist, was held by the Pune police Friday morning ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Shirdi. Desai, the chief of Bhumata Brigade, had written a letter to demanding to meet the Prime Minister to discuss the Supreme Court’s recent verdict on Sabarimala. Desai had threatened to interrupt the Prime Minister’s convoy if she wasn’t given permission.
“The police was already here this morning as we were about to leave for Shirdi. It is wrong. It is our Constitutional right to protest. We are being stopped at home only. It is an attempt to suppress our voice.” said Trupti Desai.
Meantime, Sobha Surendran and seven Mahila Morcha activists were taken into custody for blocking road at Vadasserikkara.
