KASARGOD: Manjeshwar (IUML) MLA PB Abdul Razak breathed his last on Saturday following prolonged illness. He was 63.

Razak who had been elected as MLA from Manjeshwar for the second time. His end came at a private hospital in Kasargod district at around 5.45 am.

Manjeshwar MLA was undergoing from heart-related health issues. Before getting elected as legislator, he was the president of Chengala gram panchayat.

Razak was born on OCtober 1, 1955 as the son of Moideen Haji and Beefathima at Chenkala in Kasargod. He had been Chenkala grama panchayat member. He was the chairman of Nellikkadu P Beeran Moideen English Medium higer secondary school and Ambedkar Education Trust Chairman. He was also the manager of Chenkala ALP school.

Razak started his political career as an activist of IUML in 1967. From Manjeshwar, he got elected as an MLA for the first time in 2011. In the 2016 election he had defeated BJP’s K Surendran by just 89 votes.

Razak was a member of the national executive committee of IUML.

The last rites of PB Abdul Razak will take place Alampady Jumma Masjid in Kasargod today (Saturday) evening.
