THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State Police Chief Loknath Behera has said strong action will be taken against people if they make references to the religion of police officers on duty in Sabarimala.

“The attack against police officers through social media is unfortunate. Stern action will be taken against such attackers. The attack made against IG Manoj Abraham in the name of his religion and against IG Sreejith in the name of his beliefs is not justifiable,” he said.

Behera further explained that neither religion nor belief will come in the way of their execution of legal responsibility. “We can’t allow policemen getting attacked for their religion or beliefs. People should stay away from such activities that will demoralise the police,” he added.
