THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Coming down heavily on alleged Sangh Parivar campaigns against deputing IG Manoj Abraham in Sabarimala for security arrangement, Chief Minister has said that a duty cannot be assigned to a police officer on the basis of his caste or religion.

“Such heinous attempts to communalise police should be isolated and defeated,” he said.

The chief minister criticised the Sangh Parivar for misinterpreting the Sabarimala darshan of a top police officer and condemning Manoj Abraham, as well. “Sangh Parivar is trying to humiliate true believers. If there is a case, police will have to arrest the persons concerned. It is the duty of the police to provide security in Sabarimala,” he said at a press conference here on Tuesday.
