KOZHIKODE: The parents of Kozhikode Chevayur resident Bindu who had made an aborted attempt to enter Sabarimala temple the other day have apologised to Lord Ayyappa and Sabarimala devotees for their daughter’s “mistake”.

“We are very much hurt over the inconvenience caused to devotees. To atone my daughter’s mistake, I will trek Sabarimala hillock and visit Lord Ayyappa,” Bindu’s mother Thankamma said on Wednesday.

She said her wish is to visit Sabarimala on November 5 when the temple opens for a day, well ahead of Mandalam season.
But Bindu’s father Vasu will not go to Sabarimala due to health issues and he will offer prayers at home.

A school teacher in Kozhikode, Bindu headed towards Sabarimala on Sunday. In the face of strong protest by devotees, the woman gave up her plans and walked back with the help of police.

When she was returning to her rented house, the house owner asked her to keep away as some protestors threatened to attack the house. Finally, she was told to vacate the house. She later took refuge in a friend’s house.
