KAYAMKULAM: 52-year old V S Ajayan who was admitted to a hospital after he was injured in the clash during Kayamkulam municipality meet succumbed to his injuries. Ajayan was a councillor of the ruling party and is a member of CPM 12th ward committee. Ajayan is a native of Vallattur in Eruva and he passed away on Thursday. A clash had occurred in the council meet on Wednesday. Eight councillors are under treatment in different hospitals.

It was decided in the council meet to undertake 65 cent land by Elmecs Group and 20 cent land by SPMS on link road for the bus stand. A dispute occurred over this issue and resulted in a clash. Vice chairperson R Girija, LDF councillors Abdul Manaf, Sasikala, Anil Kumar, Jaleel S Perumbalath, Shamila Animon and UDF councillors Shanavas and Sheeja were injured. Ajayan and Abdul Manaf were admitted to a private hospital in Parumala. Ajayan succumbed to his injuries on Thursday. Ajayan was suffering from a brain disease. Kayamkulam police has taken a case in connection with the incident. Ajayan’s body will be kept at the municipality for the public to pay homage. Wife: Sushama, Children: Anjali and Abhijith
