CHERTHALA: Sister Anupama of Kuravilangadu seminary was heckled and humiliated by a few ‘believers’ at the funeral of Father Kuriakose Kattuthara, who had died under mysterious circumstances in Jalandhar.
The incident happened on the premises of Cherthala Pallipuram St Mary’s Church. A handful of persons claiming to be believers verbally attacked sister Anupa, who sobbed after the incident.
Sister Nupa was one of the six sisters who were in the forefront of the protests held in Ernakulam, demanding the arrest of nun rape accused Fr Franco Mulakkal. The body was brought to the church cemetery Thursday evening. Anupa along with a few other sisters had arrived to attend the ceremony.
The trouble-makers rushed to the sister as soon as she started talking to media. They shouted that she would not be allowed to talk to media in front of the church gate.
Later she returned to her car with teary eyes, saying that she was hurt by the incident that has happened in her own parish. “Fr Kuriakose had been a very affectionate person and had always stood by us,” she added before getting into the car.
