THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It has been reported that 1680 CPM activists will be appointed at Sannidhanam during Sabarimala pilgrimage season on the backdrop of supreme court verdict allowing women of all ages to enter Sabarimala. 1650 people will be appointed at Sannidhanam and 30 people will be appointed at Nilakkal. They will be appointed on the basis of daily wage. The report states that the government is trying to take the complete control of the temple through this action.
Yearly, 1500 people are appointed at Sannidhanam for various kind of jobs. They will be appointed for Aravana preparation, Annadanam, water distribution, office-guest house maintenance. They are also responsible for providing food for security officers working at Kunnar dam. The government has directed to appoint CPM members for these duties this year.
They will be allowed to stay at Sannidhanam until the end of pilgrimage season. The board is responsible for providing accomodation and food for these workers. The government was not able to implement the supreme court verdict in connection with the women entry. It was reported that Sangh Parivar activists tried to create clash with policemen and media personnel at Sannidhanam. There were no LDF supporters at Sannidhanam to back the police and media.
