KOZHIKODE: BJP State general secretary K Surendran has said he will not withdraw the case related to Manjeshwaram election. At a press conference here on Sunday, he said that the wish of the BJP was to wind up the case at the earliest.
The high court had the other day asked Surendran whether he had plans to withdraw the case.
Surendran alleged that the LDF and UDF had been jointly trying to delay the case. “There are 67 witnesses in the case who can substantiate that booth rigging took place during Manjeshawram election. But, the CPM and Muslim League have detained them. If they are allowed to go to the court, they will speak the truth. In the interest of the public, the UDF and the LDF should help us dispose the case at the earliest. The LDF stand had helped UDF detain the witnesses. In Manjeswaram it was CPM that built security cover for the Muslim League,” he said.
Surendran said that the case could be settled within five days. 67 witnesses can be examined in two days. “Despite the court recommending police protection for witnesses several times, the government didn’t heed to the instruction. The government is under the control of the CPM and hence, help us produce the witness in the court. The case, which could have been ended in one year, is still continuing, because the witnesses are not available.
In all panchayat’s in Manjeshawaran, the UDF and LDF have a secret public understanding. The CPM should clarify its stand on this,” he said.
