KOTTAYAM: Slamming the government over its Sabarimala stand, the NSS general secretary G Sukumaran Nair has said that it is the government which has to correct its stand on the issue.

Earlier, CPM leader Kodiyeri Balakrihsnan had said that the NSS should correct its stand, born out of misconceptions.

“The government’s move to implement the Supreme Court order in the Sabarimala case is against believers. Majority of believers are not accepting the order. Kodiyeri was apprised of this fact much earlier. If the government was not ready to consider our demands, the NSS will have to have its own separate stand. It is under these circumstances we have to say that Kodiyeri’s advice is irrelevant,” he explained.

Sukaumaran Nair also added that the NSS had no political intentions behind its decision to support the believers. “NSS has always upheld the values of neo-liberal movements but it need not be mixed up with the move to protect the beliefs.”
