KOCHI: Devotees have staged protest against the action taken by the revenue department to acquire Church's land. The government has decided to acquire land owned by St.Sebastian church in Puthuvype, Kochi. A faith centre, worked as part of the church and 25 cents land was acquired by revenue department. However, revenue department officials have clarified that they acquired the land since it is a wasteland.

The land was owned by the church for several years. Meantime, protesters allege that the government acquired the land since it was the centre of Puthuvype LPG strike. They also alleged that the land acquisition happened without any warning.

However, officials say that the land was acquired after sending a notice. The devotees have decided to move forward with strong protests.
