IRITTY: A wild elephant trampled a 80-year-old woman to death, at the Aaralam Fram in Iritty. The dead has been identified as Devu Karyathan residing in Aaralam farm 13th block. She was attacked by the elephant when she was sleeping in her house along with family members. The accident happened on Tuesday at about 1 am.

Devu's 4-year-old grandchild was also attacked and sustained injuries. The body of Devu is kept at the Pariyaram Medical College hospital. The body will be handed over to relatives after post-mortem.
