THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Pinarayi Vijayan is doubly determined to implement the Supreme Court order on Sabarimala women’s entry. But now some believers have come out with the question why he is not showing the same spirit in the case of a famous ൂempe in the capital.
It is in the famous Sree Krishna Swamy temple at Malayinkeezhu where women are not allowed to enter inside the Nalambalam (the space within the four walls surrounding the Sreekovil or sanctum sanctorum)
In the temple under the control of Travancore Devaswom board, only men are allowed to enter this part of the temple. This is specifically mentioned on the noticeboard at the temple.
The advisory committee under the leadership of a CPM leader is also there in the temple. Interestingly, about 50 persons in the committee are CPM loyals. Despite this fact, women are restricted inside the nalambalam.
In the Malayinkeezhu temple, the main idol is installed through Jaddibanda ritual as in the case of Sabarimala deity. Usually temples have Ashtabanda installation. Jaddibanda is a unique installation using hair from Samadhi state and granite.
The temple authorities say that as per the prescription of Acharyas or pundits, women are not allowed to enter the Nalambalam where there are such installations.
But women can offer prayers from outside.
Now, those who oppose young women’s entry in Sabarimala ask why Pinarayi has batted an eyelid in the case of Malayinkeezhu temple when he is speaking up for entry of all women in Sabarimala.
