KOCHI: If feminists also start entering the jostling serpentine queues in Sabarimala, there will be a plethora of ‘Metoo’ allegations there, Ayyappa Dharma Sena President Rahul Easwar has commented sarcastically.
He has said this in the press release issued at a press conference held in Kochi on Tuesday.
“In women’s subject, all are scared, especially when people like the chief minister has taken a tough stand. But I’m not scared about it. Me too allegations against me are fake. I expect more such allegations,” he said.
Rahul had arrived for the press conference with grandmother Devaki Antharjanam, mother Mallika Namboothiri, wife Deepa Rahul Easwar and his son. Since there was court restrictions on Rahul, the press note was read out by his advocate Shanthi Mayadevi in front of media persons. This was done to avoid controversial any slip of the tongue, which could lead to the cancellation of his bail.
“I have many things to say and I will speak out after Nov 5 with the permission of my advocate. Allegations against me are conspiracy of hard-core feminists against devotees. I agree with Metoo campaign but it is misused to humiliate others,” he said in the statement.
Devaki Antharjanam said expect for his reality show, she had been with him for all social activities. “I was also arrested in Sabarimala. Rahul have been booked to weaken the strike. Devotees should stand united. I will also be with Rahul from November 5 onwards in Sabarimala.
Extending her support to Rahul and devotees, his mother Mallika Namboothiri said allegations against Rahul were aimed at preventing him from going to Sabarimala.
Meanwhile, Rahul’s wife Deepa rejected MeToo allegations against her husband. “Such fake allegations will destroy the credibility of the campaign. We have known each other since 2002 and we got married in 2010. The incident is said to have happed two years after 2002. I strongly believe that Rahul won’t do such a thing. Stop this character assassination using fake allegations,” she said.
